Alleged N280,000 Extortion: Edo Police Command Postones 'hearing' Indefinitely.


The Edo state police command has postponed the earlier 'hearing' of a case, involving some operatives, attached to the state government security outfit, codenamed, 'Operation WABAIZINGA,' who allegedly extort a motorist, Tobechukwu Divine, N280,000 to a later date.

The matter which was earlier scheduled for 'hearing' on Tuesday, 27th August 2019, at the state police headquarters in Benin city, would be held on a date yet to be disclosed.

The police operatives' had on the 15th August 2019 allegedly extort the motorist, of the sum of N280,000, along the Benin-Auchi-Okene express way, at Agbede in Etsako-West Local Government Area of the state, while on his way from Auchi to see his sick fiancee at Warri, in Delta State.

"the DCO in-charge said the officers involved weren't on seat, that one of them was ill and the other have exams to write, that means they've to rebook another day for us.

"I wouldn't know shaa.. . I'm really exhausted. If it continues like this, I wouldn't come to Benin again", Tobechukwu said, after the 'hearing' at the state police headquarters Today 

He had earlier disclosed the passing away of his sick fiancee 72-hours ago,  as he could not take her to University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she was referred to, from a private medical facility, due to lack of fund.
