Constituents Faults Senator On Constituency Project
The people of Edo North Senatorial District has accused the Senator representing the area, Francis Alimikhena of exclusion from the planning of budget as well as implementation for the area since elected in 2015.
The Constituents who revealed this in their separate reactions on the Senator's performance, further accused Alimikhena of lack of transparency and accountability since assuming office in the Red chamber.
The Senate Deputy Chief Whip had embarked on different projects in locations across some local government areas in the constituency, including the empowerment of youth through the provision of tricycles, motorcycles, generators, sewing machines.
An indigene of Ayogwiri in Etsako-West local government area of Edo state, Mrs Asana Bello said people in her community have not felt the impact of a representative at the Senate.
"You will not even see him call for a town hall meeting for the people to speak their mind on what they need before bringing what they do need. We can not continue like this", The primary school teacher said.
Also speaking, an applicant in Ekperi, Samson Idede called on the Senate Deputy Chief Whip to be transparent when dealing with people so as to build trust, adding it is "necessary" the Senator "carry everyone along from his constituency".
A prominent youth leader in the area however kicked against endorsing the Edo lawmaker for a second term, saying it would not be in the best interest of the constituents.
According to the Youth leader from Igarra who pleaded anonymity, "Alimikhena has not delivered actually compared to the funds received as constituency project in the last three years. Anybody supporting him to return to the Senate is selfish."
Meanwhile, Transparency agency, Tracka recently expressed displeasure at the projects nominated by the senator as well as the impact on the constituency.
The Agency said it findings on the 2017 Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP) in Edo North Senatorial District revealed that over N950 million was devoted to empowerment provisions without clear information on project locations.
Responding, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Lawmaker, Benjamin Atu said the Senator delivered on his constituency projects according to the requests made by his constituents, faulting the claims by Tracka.
"It is the requests of the people that are our priority. So in the latter it is wrong for any agency to determine if the senator is delivering", the Media aide said
